Sara, Peter & Tobias ready for BredaPhoto

Sep 24, 2018 | The Merge

The Copenhangen-based photographers’ collective Sara Galbiati, Peter Helles Eriksen and Tobias Selnaes Markussen have finished work on The Merge: Scenes From a Simulated Reality.

The project was exclusively made for Forhanna and BredaPhoto, a major photography biennale in the southern Dutch city of Breda where it will be presented in early September.

The collective received a Forhanna working grant last year. In the Merge, photographers explore the question whether the ‘real’ and virtual world are already merging as result of ground breaking new technologies.

“Can we still trust our senses in judging what is real and what is not?”

The new chapter ‘Scenes from a Simulated Reality’ is a futuristic worst-case-scenario that challenges the viewer to look into a future where man and machine merge.

For their project, the artists visited leading research institutions worldwide. Early 2018, they were awarded the prestigious International Photography Award Winner by the British Journal of Photography.

The project will be on display at Breda Botanique, the former Breda’s Museum from 5 September till 21 October 2018.

Sara, Peter & Tobias will tell more about their project in a special BredaPhoto session of ‘De Donkere Kamer’ (‘the dark room’), which takes place on Thursday 6 September 2018 at 8 PM in the Chassé Theater in Breda. The event can be visited for free, but book ahead on online.
